2. General Information
Speakers and Judges are asked to arrive at the venue by 7.15pm to allow time for the set up of equipment, whether for the projection of digital images and or display of prints etc.
The club has a laptop computer and a projector which are normally set up beforehand, but arrangements can be made to use the speaker’s own equipment if desired. Our projector is calibrated to 1600px resolution.
Please advise the Programme Secretary about any potential equipment compatibility issues, for example if you use an Apple computer, before the date of your talk. We can also set up audio equipment if you wish.
Our meetings finish about 9pm, then refreshments, tea, coffee and biscuits are served.
3. Venue Directions
Ryton village is situated 6 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne. Directions are from the Blaydon to Crawcrook
road, the B6317, which passes through Ryton.
Travelling from the west:
From Crawcrook head east toward Ryton. In the second 20 mph zone (with fierce road humps - take care!!),
pass a large school complex (Thorp Academy) on the left. About ¼ mile after leaving the 2nd 20 mph turn
LEFT onto Lane Head / Whitewell Lane.
Travelling from the east:
About 2 miles from Blaydon roundabout (by Macdonalds), a few yards after a pedestrian crossing with traffic
lights, turn RIGHT onto Lane Head / Whitewell Lane. This junction is split, so go past the No Entry signs
before turning RIGHT.
Once on Whitewell Lane:
Continue for ¼ mile to the T-junction, then turn LEFT. Ryton Community Centre is about 200 yards along this
road on the RIGHT, immediately after the village green. Look for the pub The Olde Cross Inn; the Community
Centre is to the left of the pub, at top of the hill. Parking is available on the main street and around the green.
We look forward to your visit to our club. Phone numbers are listed below, in case they are needed.
